Most of the major fashion houses and now even high street stores still use fur despite the increasing awareness of the unimaginable conditions that these animals are subjected to. This is often because real fur is cheaper than it is to make fake fur! The growth of clothing manufacturing in China and other areas in the Far East has further worsened the treatment to animals as there are no regulations to control practices. Many high profile people are making a stand against the use of fur including Heather Mills and Pamela Anderson. Also, organizations such as PETA are doing a great deal to raise awareness. However, there are so many people that are parading around wearing dead animals and damaging their hard work. These include Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Lopez and Paris Hilton. Do not be encouraged by these people as they are either ignorant or incredibly cruel.
We suggest that if you are asked to wear fur by a client that you refuse. This can sometimes be difficult but somehow models must make a difference and not support the skin trade by beautifying the corpses of animals.
