The final nail in the head for any defence on our part is "I'm for the British Empire and things. I'm for slavery, but that's never going to come back."
Hmm, so what can we say about that other than that of course it is wrong? I have to hope that the ignorance of the young girl on Channel 4's Shipwreckedis quickly taught to not continue with this attitude, and worse still, make it appear 'cool'.
However, it makes me wonder if Lucy Buchanan is the only young person in this country to think like this? Children are fortunately or unfortunately the product of their parents - just look at Jade Goody if you have any doubts on that matter! And also, how come it is acceptable to criticise 'fat people and ugly people' without a trace of criticism? In the Big Brother house the c*** word was said and drew no absolutely attention compared to the subject of racism. As a women, I find this word very offensive and I don't think people should be saying such words on TV as it can encourage children to repeat it when the show is finished. What do you think?
So, is it the job of Channel 4 to blot out people such as Jade Goody and Lucy Buchanan so as to spare our fair ears and eyes from their influences? Or, are they simply providing a medium for us to see Modern Britain in the comfort of our own homes - without seeing it's unpleasantness at the bus stop, around the supermarket or in our schools. Reality TV is supposed to be 'real' after all - and according to viewing ratings we officially love it?
Tell us what you think below. Is Lucy Buchanan on or off Channel 4's Shipwrecked 'racist', 'ignorant' or is it only fair that she should express her opinions?

what ever happened to having your own opinion? We should be allowed to say what ever we like, if you cant handle it grow thicker skin. She was only saying what she thinks, and im sure if channel 4 thought it was so harsh they wouldnt of shown it in the first place.!!! Im not saying i agree with her, but i do believe in freedom of speech, and i think that society has a lot to answer for if we cant even have that anymore!

as much as I dissagree with her comments, the fact of the matter is that she is entitled to her opinions and views. Preventing people like her from expressing their ill-concieved views is basically as bad as having views like hers, or saying that you can have your own opinion as long as we agree with it. Its easy to forget that freedom of speech and democracy are only a good thing if you agree with whats being put forward.

you know what this kind of thinking needs to come to the forefront of the british conscious....i believe in freedom of expression, in my opinion the victims of racism are the racist as their cultural and mental ignorance hinders them from a lot this planet and her people have to offer but seriously views like these should be in our faces all the time...maybe that will wake our "kids" up from their bottom of black culture being worshipped globalised dream which tends to be a nightmare for us progressive africans, progressive europeans and racists..... by the way i urge everyone who reads this post to do ome research on african history in general but the african moors of the middle ages... peace be upon you
