Google offers a great service called Google AdSense which allows websites, small and large, to have easy access to adverts which Google determines by looking for keywords on the web page where the advert appears. So far so good...
We, at Lifeofamodel.com, were shocked when we saw fur adverts on our Anti Fur & "Fashion models against fur coats" pages. We tried banning the individual fur traders (see our Against fur traders page), but the list is never ending so we decided to go for the source!
FurSense - the campaign against Google fur adverts
On 2 December 2006 we sent the following (polite) email to Google's AdSense, press and investor relations departments:
We have had two responses so far:
I understand and appreciate your concern regarding fur products and cruelty to animals. I've asked our AdWords team to look at the information you've sent us. I appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your concerns. This helps us maintain the quality of the AdWords network. - Charlie from the Google Adsense Team
Thank you for contacting Google to express your concerns regarding advertisements for fur products on Google. The Google advertising program is managed by a set of policies which we develop based on several factors, including user and customer experience and legal considerations. We review our policies regularly and make changes to keep them current and effective. Our goal is to have policies that are fair, consistent, and adaptable. Thank you for your interest in this issue and sharing your thoughts with us. Your feedback is important and helpful to us as we work to keep our policies effective and fair. - Diana Adair from Google's Global Communications and Public Affairs
How can you support FurSense and stop Google from advertising fur?

For those of you that wear fur please take a moment to look at the pictures of the abuse these animals go through, imagine the -living hell- they endure. These innocent creatures are tortured and live in a literal nightmare that they cannot escape for your fur trade! check out some pics at furisdead.com

I hope that each and every one of these comments can show those who are doing this just how wrong they are. People like that will get what's coming to them in the end. The least they could do is be more human. Fur trade in general is bad enough but to do these things while the animals are alive is pure torture to them.

Hi! I am very fond of fur and I am delighted to see the comeback of fur coats here in Europe. In five years it will be common to wear fur (women and men) not only in Munich, Berlin and Milan but also in smaller continental cities. Advertisemants for fur help to support fur industry and are necessary to keep this wonderful tradition alive!
