How to become a model

Type of modeling - Commercial modeling & Glamour Modeling

Commercial modeling

Commercial modeling is a growing market for models. More and more companies seek fresh faces to enhance their brands.
Everyone from banks, shopping centres, clothing brands, electrical products wants to be associated with often smiley and happy people. It is possible for more ‘normal’ people to be involved in commercial modeling work as the companies want to advertise in a non threatening manner to their potential clients rather than amazing them with their models beauty. Great skin, teeth, healthy bodies and a positive attitude are a must.

Speciality modeling

This could be legs, i.e. for stockings, feet, i.e. for shoes, hands i.e. for jewelery. I know a female leg model, a male hair model, a female foot model and a hand model. Almost any part of the body has the relevant specialists that are experts in making that small part of the body look as ‘perfect’ as possible. It can be very interesting if you can cope with the conversations you will inevitably have with new acquaintances who are confused about exactly what foot modeling is!

Glamour modeling

This is a whole side of the industry that I am not all that familiar with. However, this is for a reason as I decided very early on that I was not comfortable with baring my breasts in the name of fashion. Also, it became apparent that ‘glamour modeling’ was not all that ‘glamorous’! Cold studios, compromising positions and hot gossip for your old school friends never really appealed! However, some girls do have positive experiences and can crack the market, the most successful today being British glamour model Jordan (aka Katie Price). However, this (like a glamour fashion model) is very rare and I have noticed that most girls that start doing well from this field aim to move out of it and into something else (usually tv presenting for some reason?) ASAP! Please note the added safety and security risks of this line of modeling due to the nature of undressing for a living. Exercise triple vigilance!
